A one-minute walk from Ebisu Station on the Metro Hibiya Line, the Champagne Bar DIVIN is located in a corner of a row of restaurants surrounding Ebisu Shrine.
It’s a little hard to find, being on the basement floor, but the interior is black and chic.
The flower stand in the center of the counter was decorated with cherry blossoms. At first glance, it looks like a stylish bar, but when you look at the menu, you will find a hardcore selection of “Champagne, cocktails using Champagne, and wine by the glass. In addition to this, there are bottles available, and it seems that there are always more than 300 types of Champagne and Burgundy wines lying around.
Champagne bars have an image of being ultra-luxurious, but with prices starting at 1,890 yen for a glass and 11,000 yen for a bottle, it’s the perfect place to splurge on the weekend.
Of course, they have the finest Salon and Grand Maison cuvées prestige available, but you can also order the affordable RM (Récoltin Manipulant) made by small producers and enjoy it at your leisure.
The wines by the glass are Thierry Urie and Jean-Louis Vernon.
If you are a wine lover, you will want to try a variety of maniacal Champagnes that you have never heard of.
You order your drink, and the champagne is poured into your glass and served.
After that comes the food menu, and to my surprise, there are a lot of dishes to choose from, including meat dishes. I ordered the potato galette with pickles, and all of the dishes were as authentic as if they were served in a hotel French restaurant, with perfect sauces and presentation. The sauces and presentation were perfect. It would be a shame not to try them.
Next to the Champagne, we had Dominique Rolland’s Arroz Corton 2014, and the Burgundy is also very good.
It would be a good idea to order by the glass to find a good wine that you would normally buy and drink.
It was a short visit, but if you are a wine lover, you should definitely go to this champagne bar at least once, where you can drink good champagne while eating good food.
