Located in front of the Tokyu Main Store, a 10-minute walk from the Hachiko Exit of Shibuya Station, Villon offers a convenient “morning” service for when you arrive in Shibuya a little early.
The store has a Parisian urban atmosphere, and is so stylish that it is hard to believe that it is a boulangerie (French for bakery).
On the first floor, they sell freshly baked breads, but on the second floor, you can have breakfast or a buffet, called “Petit Déjeuner VIRON” (Breakfast at VIRON), which is available only in the morning (9:00-11:00LO), and includes bread, jam, and coffee for 1,500 yen (tax not included).
It is perfect for when you arrive in Shibuya early in the morning and want to spend an elegant time eating freshly baked bread.
The furniture, furnishings, and interior design are just like when you stop by a cafe for breakfast on a trip abroad.
You can choose from tea (flavored tea) or coffee. You can choose from either tea (flavored tea) or coffee, and since it’s served in a pot, it’s nice to have plenty to drink.
The cutlery and plates are cute too!
The bread you’re interested in is hearty! A variety of breads come in a basket. A variety of breads come in baskets, and you can choose two of your favorite ones and have them placed in the basket, but it’s an amazing amount. It’s a surprisingly large portion. Even grown men will be full, so it’s good to go as a couple.
They also have a wide variety of jams. I liked the croissants and danishes because they were crispy. The only drawback, however, is that it is mainly sweet, and you will want to eat something sour.
Especially if you are a man like me, you might want some cheese or ham after eating two or three of them…!
Now, about VIRON, it is a Franc Span specialty store that has been gaining great support from many bread lovers since it opened in 2003 across from the main store of Tokyu Department Store.
They faithfully follow the traditional method and use brand-name flour “retro d’or” from MINOTERIES VIRON, a long-established French flour mill. Not only the interior design, but also the smell of the wheat when you eat it will make you feel like you are abroad.
At dinner time, you can enjoy authentic French cuisine, different from breakfast, along with wine or champagne. Please visit both in the morning and at night.
