I went to “Eel Matsukawa Honten” located in front of the 6-1 exit of Shibuya station.
Right in front of the scramble crossing, in a place like this! It’s so easy to find.
It’s so easy to find that you’ll never get lost even if you’re meeting someone.

Served rice bowl is priced at 2,160 yen, and eel pile is priced from 3,000 yen to 5,500 yen.
The prices are high due to the recent poor harvest, but are similar to other restaurants.
Considering its location right in front of Shibuya station, it is probably more affordable.

This time, I had the “Eel and Cherry Blossom” (4,000 yen) and the side dishes of maitake mushroom tempura and ginkgo nuts. The gingko nuts were fragrant and crunchy, but the maitake mushroom tempura was too cold and watery, and the bite size was too big.

The eel was a little firm and the sauce was sweet.
The sauce was sweet, and the oil was light, so it was easy to eat.

If you like fluffy eel with oil on top, you may be a little disappointed.
For those who want to eat lightly, this is a good choice.

If you want a juicier and fluffier type of eel, the Kanda and Akihabara areas are recommended. (Kanda Kikukawa, etc.)
It gets thinner as you go toward Shibuya. It is thinnest in the Azabu area…. LOL!

So, that was my report on a quick eel meal in Shibuya!
